Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures
Pre-K is at the bus loop, behind the school.
Car riders - two car tags will be issued the first week of school. This tag should be placed in the front window of your vehicle. Important: you will not be able to enter the bus loop without this tag. There will be assistants outside to greet your child and take them into class. The same procedure will be used for pick up in the afternoon. Students should arrive no earlier than 8:15 a.m. Pre-K pick up time is at 2:15. Walkers - follow the same procedures with the exception of needing a car tag.
IMPORTANT: Do not leave your student until the assistants are there to ensure their safety. Please, always let me know if someone other than yourself, or regular pick-up person, will be picking up your child.
VPK student arrival time is 9:00 and pick-up is at 12:00 (this is for students who do not attend wrap around care).
Meals (breakfast, snack and lunch)
Monthly breakfast and lunch calendars are available on the school website for your review. All food sent to school for meals should be ready for your child to eat. Please do not send in foods that must be prepared. If your child has allergies, please make sure I am aware and all medical information paperwork is completed.
Students will have rest time every day from 1:10-2:10. This time is needed for students to relax, unwind and refuel their bodies. Students will need a nap pad. You may also wish to purchase a king size pillow case which fits nicely over the pad to keep them from sweating. You may send in a small blanket and ONE stuffed animal that can stay at school. Please make sure your child’s name or initials are on all items. We will be washing all linens here at school. Items will be returned at the end of the school year.
Additional VPK information
VPK student hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, unless they are in the wrap around program. VPK students are given The Florida VPK Assessment three times per year (September, January and May). Parents will receive a detailed report after each assessment which will indicate your child's progress on these standards. Please see the link below:
Weekly Behavior Charts will be implemented after the first few weeks of school, once everyone is familiar with our classroom expectations. There is a form in your child's daily folder that should always remain on the left hand side. If the box is white, your child made good choices that day! If there is yellow or orange in the box, your child has been counseled numerous times on following classroom rules and making better choices that day. If the box is red, you will receive a behavior explanation form. This form should be signed and returned to school the next day. Please initial your child's weekly behavior chart each day and keep it in their folder. This stays at school. Please remember, this is a useful form of communication between school and home, so that we can work together in helping your child be successful in the classroom.
Thank you for your cooperation.
If you would like to set up a parent-teacher conference please send me an email with several date and time options. I will do my best to accommodate your schedule.
We are planning two or three field trips this year. A permission slip will be required for each student. Only students with written and signed permission slips will be allowed to attend. Parents must have a current Volunteer Form completed and on file in order to attend any event at the school or on a field trip. More information and details to come!
Each child's birthday will be celebrated in class. We will sing ""Happy Birthday" and they will receive a birthday certificate. You are welcome to send in treats for the class. The treats will be shared after lunch, or after rest time at the end of the day. Please make sure treats are sent in the morning with your student, or dropped off at the front office at the beginning of the day, so I can plan accordingly.
