I graduated from Florida State College of Jacksonville with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education Pre-K through Grade 3. I have my Professional Certification in English for Speakers of Other Languages, Pre-K/Primary Education (ages 3 - 8), as well as Exceptional Student Education. I am a proud member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. This is my 5th full year teaching at Oakleaf Village Elementary. I am married and have three fabulous children; Danielle, Chelsea and Richard. In my spare time I enjoy trail walks and hikes through the forests, gardening, cooking, traveling, spending time with my family and reading of course! I am so happy to be here at Oakleaf Village and to be your child's teacher.
About Our Assistants
We have a great team of classroom assistants who are also dedicated to helping your child learn and grow each day. Our assistants are a valuable part of our team. Ms. Angela Van Dyke has over 10 years experience in being an assistant. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and love. Ms. April Diley is new to our classroom this year. She will be a great asset to our team. Both Ms. Van Dyke and Ms. Diley are an integral part of our team as they help to ensure that our classroom is running smoothly, students are safe and learning. I couldn't do it without them!
About Our Classroom
Perhaps the greatest gift we can give our young children is self-confidence. The satisfaction that comes from knowing you are someone special and that you are loved and respected by your friends and teachers. Our classroom is structured to inspire each child to explore and grow. We incorporate large group time as well as smaller, more individualized learning time for each student. As your child's teacher, it is my goal to promote a safe, secure, engaging environment to help students grow both socially and academically. Building a solid, early foundation for "a love of learning" is vital to the success of a child. We strive to get our little explorers excited about life, prepare them for school and the journey that is ahead of them.
Together, we can pave the way!
